Ranging in style from photorealistic to large-scale abstraction, James Chronister’s paintings have been exhibited at galleries and fairs in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and Minneapolis. He was nominated for San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts (SMOMA)’s SECA Art Award (2010) and given a full residency and survey exhibition at Lux Art Institute in California (2013). His work has been acquired by Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) and is held in numerous private collections nationwide. He earned his MFA from California College of the Arts (2014), where he received the Richard K. Price Painting Award. Represented in San Francisco by Eleanor Harwood gallery, Chronister is a charter member of Minnesota Street Project’s Studio Program.
