The large-scale representational paintings of Bay Area artist Chester Arnold often depict a darker, more uneasy relationship between nature and humanity. Arnold’s limited-edition print for Minnesota Street Project Editions, based on an oil-on-linen work from his recent Borderline series (2018), draws on both political and poetic themes relating to borders and walls as symbols of separation or externalized fear. Here, the artist’s lavish painting style is rendered in archival ink on textured matte etching paper.
